Last week we were invited by a dear friend who is here from Germany studying with Liebenzell Missions, to join the team of students in slaughtering and butchering four chickens! This is part of their training in Intercultural studies while here in North America's most multicultural city, Toronto Canada!
We learned how to cut the head off the chicken, pluck the feathers, take all the inside organs out, cut apart the chickens, season them AND ... last but not least ... enjoy eating them for lunch!
This was such an amazing experience for us "city"girls!
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Mattmuller and Libenzell students for including us in your lesson!
Pouring boiling water over dead chicken to prepare for plucking
Plucking feathers with precision ...
Cute "little guys" ready to be cleaned out ...
Learning how to take insides out of chicken with great skill. Abigail did an amazing job ... digging right in with zeal! We are so proud of you Abby!
Ok, next we needed to wash out the chicken and learn how to "butcher" them. Once we completed this task, the chickens now resembled what we are use to seeing in our local grocery store:)
Now the chicken is seasoned and ready for the grill ... Yum, yum:)
Grilled and ready to enjoy!
Hmmm ... A very interesting toy!
