Today we went on a field trip to Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake. When we went, they were acting out the revolutionary war. Here are a couple facts about the war:

1. The war went on from 1775-1783 and began after the French militay threats ceased.
2. After the French left them alone, the British started making residents pay taxes to live there.
3. The war involved two different groups, Loyalists and Patriots.
4. The Loyalist's were americans who wished to remain loyal to England.
5. The Patriot's wanted to be free of England and its taxes.
6. 15-20% of the population were Loyalists
7. The revolutionary war was a terrible time. Neighbors were against neighbors, friends against friends, and brothers against brothers.
   

It was very interesting when they acted out the war. They used guns and cannons(without the bullets and cannon balls) which made lots of noise. Grace slept through the entire thing:)
After the "war" all the soldiers and their wives went to a ball complete with a chamber music orchestra. Some of the ladies gowns were pretty. We had a fun time!!!
