So, for a change instead of Frugal Fashion Friday I am now doing something called Timely Tuesday Tutorials! It will be any tutorials and projects...sounds good? :)
I thought it would be fun to have something new and take a break from Frugal Fashion Friday posts.
Today is my first Timely Tuesday Tutorial post!
In the Spring we found a table that someone had put at the side of the road and Hannah thought it would be cute if we painted it white so she brought it home. (I thought it was pretty ugly!)
Anyhow, It sat in the garage for awhile till we finally decided to do something with it. We dragged it out and started fixing it up.
The Table when we picked it up...
First Hannah and Gabe removed the top, took out the draws and we primed it.
Primer drys very quickly so we let it dry while we got started on the top.
Before applying any stain Hannah sanded the top.
We wanted to stain the wood a darker mahogany color, but when we tried the mahogany stain we didn't like the orange color it gave the wood so we ended up going with the tung oil.

In the picture it actually doesn't look too orange though.

While Hannah was staining the top of the table I was painting the rest.
We were trying to decide whether we should paint it a bright white or a creamy white.
When we saw both colors we settled on the creamy white since it gave the whole table a softer look and also went very nicely with the color of the stain.

(How many coats to put really depends on what you like, I did two coats of paint)
After the paint was done and we had one coat of stain on the top we put it all in the garage to dry over night.
The next morning we put all the drawers together, put the top back on and screwed in the new drawer handles. Hannah also applied another coat of stain.
This is the table with the top on and the drawer put together.
With it painted white you can now notice the beautiful small
details that were less noticeable when it was black.

Cost of entire project? $12.99 for the new drawer pulls. Everything else was free!
