The Titanic sankon this day, 98 years ago. Here is a poem I wrote about it.

The Titanic

At a lavish dinner party in 1907,

Two men decided to challenge our God in heaven.

To build build a ship that was so strong,

And to prove to God that he was wrong.

They believed it to be unsinkable,

But pride like that, to God, is unthinkable.

It all began in 1909,

The building of a ship so fine.

She was luxurious from stern to bow,

And was ready to sail the seven seas now.

From Great Britain's mighty shore,

She sailed the ocean like many before.

The food was delicious from first class to third,

And on that voyage there was no complaint to be heard.

The ladies and gentlemen dressed so fair,

That you wouldn't find that style of dress anywere

Then the tragedy struck the majestic ship,

Looming ahead was the icebergs tip!

The iceberg scraped against the ship,

That made a loud lengthy rip.

"Off to the lifeboats!" the officers shouted.

But many hopeful passengers doubted.

What took three years to build,

In three hours sea water had now filled.

To defy God to sink her,

Was a tragic error,

After many long years,

The story of the Titanic still brings tears.
